But here's where it gets interesting: the Kings' previous wins this season had been nail-biters, with a combined margin of only 18 points. They had never won by more than five points until this game!
Keegan Murray contributed 16 points, Nique Clifford added 15, and DeMar DeRozan chipped in with 13 for the Kings. Their performance was a stark contrast to their recent struggles, having lost 12 of their last 14 games before this victory.
LaVine's previous bests this season were six 3-pointers and 34 points. The Kings' lead reached a season-high of 28 points, and they celebrated their biggest win ever in Miami. Historically, the Kings had a tough record in Miami, with a 6-31 all-time record, and never winning by more than 15 points.
On the Heat's side, Jaime Jaquez Jr. led the team with 27 points. Simone Fontecchio scored 20, Norman Powell had 18, and Andrew Wiggins added 13. The Heat, however, are now on a three-game losing streak for the first time this season.
The Heat were also missing key players: Tyler Herro (due to a right big toe contusion), Davion Mitchell (right groin tightness), and Pelle Larsson (right hip flexor tightness). Herro's injury, which caused him to miss time earlier in the season, was evaluated with an MRI, and he's listed as day-to-day.
The game's turning point came early in the second quarter when Fontecchio's 3-pointer gave Miami a brief lead. However, LaVine's dominance, with 29 points by halftime, fueled a 23-7 run by the Kings, giving them a commanding 72-55 lead at halftime.
Miami attempted a comeback in the fourth quarter, but never got closer than 15 points.
