Get ready for a summer spectacle like no other! Leeds is about to be electrified with a unique fusion of electronic music and classical orchestration.
The iconic Utah Saints, pioneers of electronic music, are bringing their magic to the city's Millennium Square for an unforgettable open-air dance party. But here's where it gets controversial... they're not just spinning records; they're curating an entire event, showcasing their influence on the UK dance scene and presenting a fresh take on the Club vs Classical concept.
On Friday, June 26, 2026, Utah Saints will headline a high-energy night, joined by the legendary Andi Durrant and a special guest DJ. And this is the part most people miss: the 50-piece Symphony Orchestra of Opera North will join forces with Utah Saints on stage, creating a symphony of sound that blends the best of the 90s dance anthems with the power of orchestral music.
Imagine iconic tracks like 'Something Good' and 'What Can You Do For Me' reimagined with the might of a full orchestra! It's a unique twist on the Club Classical phenomenon, and Utah Saints are thrilled to bring it back to their hometown.
"Leeds has been at the heart of everything we've done," they said. "Curating our own full summer event makes it extra special. We can't wait to share this huge night with everyone."
And the supporting acts are just as impressive. Andi Durrant, a Leeds-based radio presenter and record producer, will join as resident DJ. He's a champion of classic dance and electronic music, having helped introduce a new generation to the genre through his radio work. Plus, dance music royalty Janice Robinson will grace the stage with a powerful rendition of her Livin' Joy classic, 'Dreamer'.
This event is a collaboration between Leeds City Council, Opera North, and the producers of 80s Classical. The musical arrangements are in the capable hands of renowned composer Cliff Masterson, known for his work with Ella Henderson and Labrinth, and Steve Anderson, a 90s dance music legend and Kylie Minogue's Musical Director.
Cliff Masterson is excited about the collaboration, saying, "Working with Utah Saints and Opera North is a thrill. We're creating something fresh and thrilling for Millennium Square."
Steve Anderson adds, "Dance music provides an incredible platform to amplify the orchestra's scores, adding an epic dimension to the live performance."
Tickets are available for £35.00 general admission or £32.50 for groups of four or more. The outdoor arena will feature street food and a licensed bar, and Millennium Square is fully accessible with various amenities.
Councillor Salma Arif, Leeds City Council's executive member for culture, praised the event, saying, "Millennium Square is a vibrant venue, and we're proud to host such an exciting lineup each year. Showcasing local talent like Opera North makes it even more special."
