Gary Neville highlights the 'key challenge' for Arsenal FC's title ambitions as Man City exerts pressure
Mikel Arteta's Arsenal side has built a reputation for narrowly missing out on the Premier League title, finishing as runners-up in each of the last three seasons, twice to Man City and once to Liverpool. Despite this, Neville believes Arsenal can overcome their injury struggles and challenge for the top spot.
"City is a formidable force," he told Sky Sports. "They have Haaland and Pep Guardiola, a dynamic duo on the pitch and the bench."
Neville emphasizes that the biggest threat to Arsenal's title push is not just the strength of City, but also the potential for injuries to key players like Declan Rice. He adds, "Arsenal might not be too concerned about their recent narrow wins, as they are bound to have some off nights."
Neville predicts that the real test for Arsenal will come in the new year, but he remains confident in their ability to maintain their lead. He states, "I believe Arsenal is in a strong position. The real challenge will be when they face the upcoming months of March, April, and May."
Neville's prediction is that Arsenal will extend their lead as the season progresses, reaching a five to six-point gap. He concludes, "I believe this is their year. They will face challenges from City, but I don't think they will falter this time."
However, he also acknowledges the possibility of a City comeback, as their fans are growing more confident. Neville teases, "City fans might be thinking, 'This is our year, we're close, but they might choke in March, April, May.' But I'm not so sure about that this time."
