A painful battle with multiple sclerosis has confined Christina Applegate to her bed, but her spirit remains unfiltered and honest. In a recent interview, Applegate shared the heartbreaking reality of her condition and how it affects her daily life and relationship with her daughter, Sadie.
A Mother's Struggle
Applegate, known for her role in "Married... with Children," revealed that she tries her best to take Sadie to school and various activities, cherishing the time they spend together. However, the pain often leaves her with a singular focus: getting Sadie to school and back home safely so she can retreat to her bed for rest.
"I tell myself, 'Just get her there safely and get home so you can get back into bed.' And that's what I do," she confessed.
At 54, Applegate has had to adapt to a life confined to her room, a life that she describes as "not wrapped up with a bow." She wants to be raw and honest, sharing the reality that life can sometimes be tough and unforgiving.
The Impact on Sadie
Applegate's 15-year-old daughter, Sadie, has witnessed her mother's battle firsthand. Applegate explained how her condition has affected Sadie, saying, "I see her look at me when I'm in bed and can't quite move, or I wanna go say goodnight to her in her room, but I can't quite get down the hallway for whatever reason that my legs aren't working that day."
She added, "Right now, I can barely get to the bathroom. It's the worst, but that's neither here nor there."
Applegate described her condition as similar to Sadie "losing the mom she had," the healthy, active mom who was a runner, a Peloton enthusiast, and a dancer.
A Daughter's Support
Despite the challenges, Sadie has been a source of strength and support for her mother. Applegate shared how Sadie assists her in public and helps her use her cane. Their bond remains strong, even in the face of Applegate's health struggles.
The Diagnosis and Updates
Applegate was diagnosed with MS in August 2021, a disease that can cause weakness, numbness, difficulty walking, and vision issues. Since then, she has periodically updated her fans on her health journey. In August, she revealed that she was hospitalized due to "so much pain," later explaining that she was diagnosed with a kidney infection.
"It's been a tough road," Applegate wrote on X, "but as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some a–hole blocks it."
